The problem
Dispatch ran on a monolith that only two engineers understood. Every release required a maintenance window, and the window had grown to four hours — which for a freight operator means real money and real angry customers.
What we did
- Mapped the domain and carved out the three services with the clearest boundaries first
- Introduced a strangler facade so old and new paths could run side by side
- Built the deployment platform before migrating workloads onto it
- Migrated in eleven increments, each independently reversible
